So You Wanna Join the PLP Pack? Here’s How!

Hey there, future daycare or boarding dog (and your human, too)! It’s me, Mr. Sue, the official Fun Coordinator & Nap Enthusiast here at PLP. If you’re looking to join the coolest crew around, here’s everything you need to know about becoming a client. Pay attention, hoomans—this is important stuff.

Step 1:  Email Us First!

Before we can get your pup in for some daycare or boarding fun, we need to check availability. Shoot us an email and let us know if your dog has any special needs we should know about. This includes:

  • Not being super friendly with other dogs (we get it, not everyone loves making 100 new friends at once).
  • Not crate trained.
  • Anxiety (we have lots of patient humans, but we like a heads-up).
  • Fence jumping expertise (our fences are tall, but some of y’all are determined).
  • Elderly pups who need extra care.
  • Medical needs (medications, disabilities, anything that requires special attention).

🚨Important Note: We do NOT take dogs who are aggressive toward humans. Safety is our #1 priority!

Step 2: Paperwork Time!

If we have availability and think your pup is a good fit, we’ll send you an email that looks something like this:

Hi there-
I’m attaching our new client paperwork. Please fill these out and email them back once completed. We will also need vaccination records showing that the following required vaccines are up to date:

  • Rabies
  • Distemper
  • Influenza (not the same as Parainfluenza)
  • Leptospirosis (Lepto)  This may be included in your dogs Distemper combo (sometimes labeled as DHLPP or DA2PP+L) or given as a separate vaccine. Either option is fine, as long as Lepto is included and current.
  • Bordetella (required every 6 months)

Step 3: You Send It Back, We Get Things Rolling!

Once we receive all the paperwork and verify that everything is good to go, we’ll confirm and move forward with the booking process.

📧 All bookings MUST be done via email. No texts, no carrier pigeons, no smoke signals—just email.

Step 4: First Day = Built-in Temperament Test

We don’t make you schedule a separate temperament test day. Instead, we’ll evaluate your pup on their first day of daycare to see which group they fit best in (we separate by size and temperament). If we ever have any concerns, we’ll always let you know. We never want a pup coming here who absolutely hates it or is feeling unsafe. Our goal is to keep all the pups AND the humans happy, healthy, and having fun!

Boarding? Here’s What You Need to Know!

If your pup is coming for boarding, we highly recommend doing a daycare day beforehand to make sure we’re all a good fit. This helps your pup get familiar with our environment and routine.

If you choose not to do a daycare day first, just know that if any issues arise while they’re boarding, they may be switched to an “out alone” status for safety. If they become destructive and we can’t safely contain them, they will need to be picked up immediately.

🚨 Spay & Neuter Policy 🚨

Any dogs over 1 year old that are not neutered will automatically be placed on an out alone status.

Any female dogs that are not spayed and go into heat while boarding must be picked up immediately—no exceptions.

If your pup isn’t spayed yet and is boarding, ALWAYS have a backup plan.

A $50 per day charge will be added to your bill for each day your dog remains unpicked up after going into heat.

That’s it! Follow these steps, and soon your pup will be part of the best daycare & boarding squad ever. Can’t wait to see you at PLP!
